VAIL, Colo. – Nov. 21, 2011 – Vail Mountain is scheduled to open two additional lifts – the Avanti Express Lift (#2) and the Gopher Hill Lift (#12) – and portions of surrounding terrain for the 2011-2012 season this Wednesday, Nov. 23, bringing the skiable terrain to more than 300 acres.

Beginning at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 23, skiers and snowboarders will have access to the following lifts and 21 trails or more than 300 acres of skiable terrain in these areas on Vail Mountain:
  • Avanti Express Lift (#2)
  • Born Free Express Lift (#8)
  • Gopher Hill Lift (#12)
  • Little Eagle Lift (#15)
  • Vista Bahn Express Lift (#16)
  • Eagle Bahn Gondola (#19)
Skiers and snowboarders will also have access to approximately 10 small to medium terrain park features on Born Free. Additional terrain will open to the public as soon as conditions and weather permit.

Beginning Wednesday, ticket offices in all base areas will be open. The Lionshead Adult and Children's Ski & Snowboard School is open for all private and group lessons. The Vail Village Adult Ski & Snowboard School is currently open only for private lessons. The Small World Nursery and the Children's Ski & Snowboard School will be open in Golden Peak.

The Look Ma level of Mid-Vail will open on Wednesday, in addition to the Marketplace at Eagle’s Nest and Express Lift at Mountain Plaza in Vail Village. Vail’s newest on-mountain table-service restaurant, The 10th, is scheduled to open Dec.1, 2011 and reservations can be made by calling (970) 754-1010.

Vail Mountain lifts will open at 9 a.m. throughout the early season to accommodate early-morning operations. Skiers and riders are asked to observe all posted signs and closures, especially during the early season. Closed trails may contain hazards due to early snow coverage. Crossing an on-mountain closure is a violation of the Colorado Ski Safety Act and will result in the loss of skiing privileges and could involve prosecution and a fine of up to $1,000.

Season pass restrictions will be in effect for restricted passes including the Epic Local Pass, Merchant Pass, School Employee Pass and other guest fee and community relations passes will be restricted Friday and Saturday, Nov. 25 and 26, 2011.
