VAIL, Colo. — Jan. 17, 2012 — Skiers and snowboarders were eager to load the lifts and take advantage of nearly a foot of fresh powder snow that fell across Colorado throughout the day on Monday and into the night. Vail Mountain, the largest ski resort in the United States, received 10 inches from Monday morning to Tuesday morning while Beaver Creek received nine, Breckenridge five and Keystone four.
 
Operations crews are continuing to evaluate conditions and hope to open additional terrain including portions of Vail’s Back Bowls soon.

International Snow Sculpture Championships, Jan. 24 – Feb. 5
2012 will be the 22nd year of International Snow Sculpture Championships in Breckenridge. The sculptures "live" in the area around the Riverwalk Center grounds for visitors to see. Artists sculpt from Jan. 24 at 11 a.m. until Jan. 28 at 10 a.m. and the judging takes place at 10 a.m. on Jan. 28 with an awards ceremony at 3:30 p.m. on Jan. 29 and sculptures will remain standing weather permitting until the night of Feb. 4. Beaver Creek Food & Wine Weekend, Jan. 26-28
Beaver Creek, along with Food & Wine Magazine, welcomes six of the country’s top chefs paired with local and renowned chefs to celebrate all things culinary this winter with the Beaver Creek Food & Wine Weekend. This brand new event will feature a weekend of fun and interactive culinary events beginning Thursday night with the Meet the Chefs Reception and ending Saturday night with the Grand Tasting.
