Highline Express Lift (#10) and Sourdough Express Lift (#14) Now Open at Vail
·         Adventure Ridge now open for nighttime operations and new extended Sunday/Monday operations
·         Game Creek Restaurant and Bistro Fourteen open for dinner Tuesday through Saturday
·         Pride Express Lift (#26) opens tomorrow, Dec. 15
·         Vail’s Black Forest NASTAR Race Arena opens Friday, Dec. 16
 
VAIL, Colo. — Dec. 14, 2011 — Vail Mountain, the largest ski resort in the United States, today opened the Highline Express Lift (#10) and Sourdough Express Lift (#14), bringing the resort’s skiable terrain to more than 1,400 acres.  
 
As of today skiers and snowboarders have access to the following lifts and more than 1,400 acres of skiable terrain in these areas on Vail Mountain:

·         Wildwood Express Lift (#3)
·         Mountaintop Express Lift (#4)
·         Riva Bahn Express Lift (#6)
·         Game Creek Express Lift (#7)
·         Born Free Express Lift (#8)
·         Highline Express Lift (#10)
·         Northwoods Express Lift (#11)
·         Gopher Hill Lift (#12)
·         Sourdough Express Lift (#14)
·         Little Eagle Lift (#15)
·         Vista Bahn Express Lift (#16)
·         Eagle Bahn Gondola (#19)
·         Cascade Village Lift (#20)
 
The Pride Express Lift (#26) will open to the public on Thursday, Dec. 15.
 
The Bwana terrain park is open to the public with approximately 15 beginner- to intermediate-level features as well as two small jumps. Additional jumps will be added to Bwana this weekend and Golden Peak park will open on Saturday, Dec. 17 with 18 small to medium features in the jib park, six jumps, a 13-foot half pipe and snow features. Additional features in the terrain parks will open to the public as soon as conditions and weather permit.
 
Daytime on-mountain dining options now open for the season include Bistro Fourteen at Eagle’s Nest, Two Elk, Wildwood, the Golden Peak Grill, Buffalo’s, the Look Ma level of Mid-Vail, the Marketplace at Eagle’s Nest and Express Lift at Mountain Plaza in Vail Village. Vail’s newest on-mountain table-service restaurant, The 10th, is also open and reservations can be made by calling (970) 754-1010 or online at www.vail.com/the10th.  
 
Nighttime Operations Begin Tonight at Eagle’s Nest
Game Creek Restaurant and Bistro Fourteen are now open for dinner Tuesday through Saturday beginning at 5:30. Visit www.vail.com/dining for online reservations or call Game Creek at (970) 754-4275 or Bistro Fourteen at (970) 754-4530.
 
Adventure Ridge, offering tubing, kids’ snowmobiling, bungee trampolines and ski biking, is open Sunday and Monday from at 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with the last tubing session beginning at 3:30 p.m. and Tuesday through Saturday beginning at 11 a.m. Ski biking is offered Tuesday through Saturday beginning at 4:45 p.m. For more information or reservations, call (970) SKI-VAIL (754-8245).
 
Black Forest NASTAR Race Arena Opens Friday
Vail’s Black Forest NASTAR Race Arena will open to the public this Friday, Dec. 16 beginning at 10:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday in addition to special holiday operations Dec. 26 and 27, 2011 and Feb. 20 and 21, 2012.
 
Most Vail Mountain lifts will open at 9 a.m. throughout the early season to accommodate early-morning operations. Skiers and riders are asked to observe all slow zones, posted signs and closures, especially during the early season. Closed trails may contain hazards due to early snow coverage. Crossing an on-mountain closure is a violation of the Colorado Ski Safety Act and will result in the loss of skiing privileges and could involve prosecution and a fine of up to $1,000.
