Steven Topple Named New Executive Chef of Vail’s Game Creek Club and Restaurant
  • Game Creek Restaurant is open for summer operations through Sunday, Aug. 30
Vail Mountain announced today the appointment of Steven Topple to executive chef of Game Creek Club and Restaurant, one of Vail Mountain’s premier Signature Clubs and fine-dining establishments. Chef Topple will begin his new role in mid-September in preparation for the upcoming 2015-2016 winter season.

“Game Creek is a unique and exceptional on-mountain club and fine dining experience at Vail,” said Mike Friery, senior director of Vail Mountain dining. “We are excited to have Chef Topple bring his experience and leadership to the kitchen at Game Creek and help to deliver an experience of a lifetime for club members and guests.”

A native of Portsmouth, England, Chef Topple graduated from the culinary school of Highbury College before immigrating to the United States in 1999. Since coming to America, Topple has worked at a diverse range of storied and prestigious restaurant properties including the Lake Placid Lodge in New York, the Wilcox Inn in South Carolina, Wolfgang Puck’s Postrio in San Francisco, and the Lodge at Sea Island in Georgia.

Chef Topple joins Game Creek Club and Restaurant most recently from the Shore Lodge in McCall, Idaho, where he has been leading the reputed hotel and resort property for the past two years, overseeing seven different culinary operations. Steven is no stranger to Vail Resorts, as he was previously the Executive Chef at Beano’s Cabin for five years from 2006-2011.

“I’m thrilled to return to Vail Resorts as executive chef at Game Creek Club and Restaurant,” said Chef Topple. “I look forward to bringing my personal culinary vision to the classic Game Creek menu in a way that respects and enhances the award-winning legacy of the restaurant’s exquisite cuisine.”

Located in an old-world chalet nestled within Vail’s scenic Game Creek Bowl, Game Creek Club and Restaurant offers a members-only club experience by day and elegant fine-dining for the public by night. Game Creek Club members receive private access to the Club’s facilities and amenities and can enjoy exclusive access to club services and social events.

Guests of Game Creek Restaurant can enjoy distinctive American cuisine, an award-winning wine list, and superior service complimented by magnificent views and sunsets. During the summer season the restaurant offers late-afternoon drinks and appetizers on the deck or a complete culinary experience with a multi-course dinner menu every Thursday through Saturday. Sunday brunch is also served each week during summer operations. In winter, guests are whisked to the restaurant via snow cat for nightly dinner service Tuesdays through Saturdays. Reservations are encouraged and can be made by calling (970) 754-4275.
