Vail Resorts Celebrates Grand Opening of the Highly-Anticipated Canyons Golf Course
The 18-Hole Course Offers Unparalleled Shots with Dramatic Views of Surrounding Park City Area

Park City, Utah (June 1, 2015) – Vail Resorts today announces the public grand opening of its highly anticipated golf course, Canyons Golf. Opening just in time for a successful summer season, the innovative 18-hole, 6,246-yard par-70 golf course winds through 97 acres in the heart of the Canyons Resort footprint. The course boasts more than 550 feet of elevation change with spectacular views of the Wasatch and Uinta Mountains and surrounding valleys.

Designed by renowned golf course architects Gene and Casey Bates, the brand new course offers 18 holes of challenging, yet enjoyable golf characterized by memorable shots with dramatic views. Beginning at the resort’s well-known Orange Bubble Express – the first heated chairlift in North America – Canyons Golf winds up the Willow Draw area with stunning panoramic views, ideal for a long shot and photo opportunity. The course then wraps down the mountain around the Waldorf Astoria Park City and back up to the Orange Bubble Express.

“I’m thrilled to launch such a memorable and exciting golf course at one of the country’s premier mountain golf locations,” said newly appointed Golf Professional Justin Johnson. “We’re offering private club level service with a prime location in the heart of vibrant Canyons Resort, so golfers will have access to top-notch facilities, while playing a truly unique and challenging course with the best views in Park City.”

Canyons Golf is built on the side of the mountain, offering drastic elevation changes and distinct holes. The 10th hole presents a huge 250-foot elevation drop allowing guests to potentially hit a 400-yard drive. The signature 4th hole has unrivaled vantage points and will be known as one of the most picturesque locations on property, offering panoramic views of Park City.

As a continuation of sustainability efforts across the resort, techniques have been implemented at Canyons Golf to support this initiative. Much of the earth work on the course was done with unique construction methods, including crushing several tons of rock on site in order to make topsoil to be used on fairways, saving thousands of gallons of diesel fuel which would have been spent hauling material away. Additionally, the course features a state-of-the-art irrigation system known as fertigation, which allows fertilizer to be directly injected into the irrigation pipes rather than using broadcast spreaders. This modern method of irrigation allows water and fertilizer to be placed exactly where it is needed resulting in much more efficient use of resources.

With winding paths, scenic views and perfectly manicured fairways and the truest of greens, Canyons Golf is sure to be a memorable golfing experience, becoming a must-visit on every avid golfers list.
