Northstar California™ Resort to Host ‘S’moresapalooza’ This Weekend
Resort Guests Invited to Participate in a Mass S’mores Roast, S’mores Eating and S’mores Stacking Contests in the Village at Northstar™ This Sunday

TRUCKEE, Calif. – Jan. 12, 2012 – Northstar California Resort is calling all s’mores enthusiasts to participate in S’moresapalooza in the Village at Northstar this weekend. An event first at Northstar, S’moresapalooza will feature a s’mores eating contest, s’mores stacking contest – to see who can build the largest s’mores stack – and a mass s’mores roast around the fire pits in the Village at Northstar. Resort guests are invited to participate in the festivities, scheduled to take place in the afternoon on Sunday, January 15.

“Our guests continue to tell us that they’re enjoying being here thanks to the amount of terrain we have open on the mountain, as well as the variety of activities available for them to enjoy in the Village at Northstar,” said Bill Rock, chief operating officer at Northstar. “We thought it could be fun to take advantage of the fire pits that surround the skating rink in the Village at Northstar and the s’mores tradition that’s been developed at Northstar. With the activities we have planned, we have to warn you – this is going to be fun to watch, and it will get messy!”

Sunday’s S’moresapalooza activities include:

S’mores Eating Contest
3:30 p.m. on the Village Stage
The festivities will kick off with a s’mores eating contest. Featuring the “6,310’ S’mores” from TC’s Pub in the Village at Northstar, contestants will be timed on the quantity of s’mores they’re able to consume. Dubbed the “nachos of s’mores,” the 6,310’ S’mores contain piles of grahams, marshmallows, chocolate, all melted, with dollops of ice cream on top. Three rounds of contestants featuring different age groups will have two minutes each to consume as much as they can before a winner is named.

S’mores Stacking Contest
3:45 p.m. on the Village Stage
Those who think they have stacking skills are invited to test their abilities in the s’mores stacking contest. The largest tower of s’mores created in three minutes will take the prize, with contestant teams of two required to stack in order – graham, chocolate, marshmallow, graham, and so on – until time runs out!

Village S’mores Roast
4:00 p.m. throughout the Village at Northstar
All guests in the Village at Northstar Sunday afternoon will be invited to participate in the Village S’mores Roast – possibly the largest s’mores roast to ever take place in North Lake Tahoe! Complimentary s’mores-making materials will be distributed to resort guests so they can take part in the s’mores tradition at Northstar around one of the 12 fire pits in the Village at Northstar.

Guests can sign up to participate in the s’mores eating and s’mores stacking contests starting at 2:45 p.m. on Sunday by the stage in the Village at Northstar. Contest participation will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. All resort guests are invited to participate in the Village S’mores Roast. S’mores-making materials will be provided to all interested guests on a first-come, first-served basis.
