Northstar California™ Resort to Host Complete Lineup of Special Events This Summer
Star Gazing Tours, Summer Concert Series, Mountain Biking Events, Food & Wine Events, Tough Mudder and More Round out Summer Happenings
 
TRUCKEE, Calif. – Summer 2012 – Summer events in North Lake Tahoe are starting to line up, with Northstar California Resort in Truckee gearing up to host a variety of special events that will include star gazing tours, a new summer concert series, cross-country and downhill mountain bike events, a stop of the Tough Mudder event series, food and wine events and much more.
 
The summer season kicks off May 18 with the opening of the Northstar Golf Course, and runs through early October. Special event highlights include:
 
Star Sessions: Northstar Concert Series – June 22, July 6 and Aug. 17
This summer, Northstar will host three outdoor concerts in the Village at Northstar, which last summer proved to be a popular summer concert venue. While the concert dates have been selected, the headlining acts are still to be announced. More details and ticket sales information will soon be available online at www.NorthstarCalifornia.com.
 
Beerfest & Bluegrass Festival – July 14
A summer favorite, the Beerfest & Bluegrass Festival will return to the Village at Northstar on Saturday, July 14. Featuring more than 30 regional breweries, performances by popular bluegrass bands, non-alcoholic beverages, a tasty BBQ, ice cream float station and outdoor games, this event is fun for all ages.
 
Tahoe Trail 100 – July 20-22
Participants can earn one of 100 coveted starting positions in the 2012 Leadville Trail 100 mountain bike race during the Tahoe Trail 100 on Sunday, July 22 at Northstar. The challenging and picturesque course will feature two 30-mile loops that circle Northstar and the surrounding areas with overlooks into the Martis Valley and Lake Tahoe.
 
Pro Gravity Tour – Aug. 3-5
The country’s premiere gravity event, the Pro GRT is an international-caliber event for elite gravity racers to showcase their downhill skills. The six stop series wraps up at Northstar August 3-5.
 
Chalk Tahoe – Aug. 30-Sept. 3
Scheduled for Labor Day weekend, Chalk Tahoe is a free community event that will attract artists from all over California to transform the cobblestone pathways in the Village at Northstar into beautiful and vibrant large-scale works of art. Attendees will be able to observe the creative minds working of the 500 expected artists who will bring life to the cobblestone walkways, while enjoying shopping, dining, live music and more.
 
Autumn Food & Wine Festival – Sept. 7-9
Foodies are invited to enjoy three full days of cooking seminars and demonstrations, culinary competitions, wine tastings, grape stomp, and more at the 27th annual Lake Tahoe Autumn Food & Wine Festival in the Village at Northstar.
 
Tough Mudder – Sept. 22-23
Northstar will host Tough Mudder September 22 and 23. Tough Mudder events are 10-12 mile obstacle courses designed by British Special Forces to test all around strength, stamina, mental grit, and camaraderie. With the most innovative courses, half a million inspiring participants, and more than $2.5 million dollars raised for the Wounded Warrior Project, Tough Mudder is the premier adventure challenge series in the world.
 
Tara Llanes Classic – Sept. 28-30
A fundraising event for the Tara Llanes Road to Recovery Fund and the Reeve-Irvine Research Center to find a cure for spinal cord injury, the Tara Llanes Classic will return to Northstar in 2012. In addition to the race, there will be an expo, kid’s race, video screenings, raffles and more.
 
Northstar will also host ongoing and weekly summer events throughout the season. Tahoe Star Tours will return, featuring themed nights, telescopic viewing and laser tours of the night sky with Tony Berendsen, star guide and president of the Northern Nevada Science Coalition. The resort’s popular Retro Skate Nights will also return, as will monthly Wine Walks throughout the Village at Northstar and the resort’s cross-country and downhill mountain bike race series.
