Northstar California Resort Kicks Off 2012 Grant Cycle Benefitting Local Non-Profits
Through Vail Resorts Echo, Resort Invites Grant Requests from Local Organizations

TRUCKEE, Calif. – Aug. 21, 2012 – Northstar is kicking off the 2012 fall grant process for North Lake Tahoe non-profit organizations in Truckee, Tahoe City, Kings Beach and Incline Village through Vail Resorts Echo, the Company’s corporate stewardship program. Through this program, the resort focuses its contributions on two main areas that enhance the quality of life in North Lake Tahoe – supporting educational and youth programs, and encouraging innovation in and implementation of environmental stewardship practices.

Aimed at both protecting the beautiful natural resources that surround the resorts and helping to build stronger communities, the Vail Resorts Echo program will grant both cash contributions and in-kind donations to local non-profits that are committed to helping those who call this community home. Applications for potential grantees are due Monday, September 18.

Comprised of leadership from Northstar, Specialty Sports Ventures and Northstar Lodging, the Vail Resorts Echo Northstar Giving Council will review all grant applications and award cash grants and in-kind donations once a year. North Lake Tahoe non-profits who run programs inside Vail Resorts’ Echo focus areas are encouraged to apply.

The application process is entirely conducted online. For those who applied last year, the same login information will apply. New applicants are invited to register as new users. Program criteria, examples of supported programs and a step-by-step process on how to apply can be found online at www.VailResortsEcho.com.

Through this program, Northstar has made significant contributions to local organizations including Excellence in Education, The Boys & Girls Club of North Lake Tahoe, Arts in Schools Foundation, Truckee Donner Land Trust, Truckee River Watershed Council, Truckee Trails Foundation, Girls on the Run, Tahoe SAFE Alliance, UC Berkeley Adventure Risk Challenge Program, Tahoe Institute for Natural Science and the Tahoe Forest Health Foundation.
