Northstar California™ Resort Introduces New STRIDER™ Adventure Zone and STRIDER Cup Race Series
STRIDER Adventure Zone Offered Weekly Beginning July 3; STRIDER Cup Series to Kick off July 4

TRUCKEE, Calif. – June 20, 2012 – Building on the success of its biking instruction and progression programs, Northstar today announced it will offer Lake Tahoe’s first STRIDER Adventure Zone and STRIDER Cup Series. With a focus on developing balance and coordination, STRIDER no-pedal balance bikes have proven much easier for children to control when learning to ride a bicycle than those with pedals.

“We’re excited to introduce the STRIDER Adventure Zone and STRIDER Cup Series to our guests this summer, and to help the next generation of bicyclists begin their love of the sport,” said Nadia Guerriero, general manager of the Village at Northstar. “Traditionally, Northstar’s Bike Academy has helped older kids and adults learn to mountain bike and improve their skills. By embracing STRIDER bikes and providing a contained area to practice and improve, we hope to offer the best experience possible for kids learning to ride a bike.”

Every Tuesday beginning July 3 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., the STRIDER Adventure Zone will provide children aged 18-months to 5 years the opportunity to test ride a STRIDER bike while playing, learning, and enjoying a custom designed obstacle course. Centrally located in the Village at Northstar on the skating rink, the STRIDER Adventure Zone will offer a challenging, contained environment with a variety of obstacles that will allow kids to improve their bike-handling skills while socializing with others their age.

Access to the STRIDER Adventure Zone is free, and a small inventory of STRIDER bikes will be available for use on a first-come, first-served basis. Guests are encouraged to bring their own STRIDER bikes, and helmets are required for all children participating in the Adventure Zone and STRIDER Cup Series.

The STRIDER Cup Series is a MOTO-style event offering kids the chance to participate in friendly competition in a fun, safe environment. These events are scheduled to take place July 4, July 21, August 4, August 18 and September 29 from 3:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the Village at Northstar. Participation in the Cup Series is free, and each participant will receive an award.

Guests are invited to bring the family and enjoy “Wheelie Tuesdays” in the Village at Northstar. In addition to the STRIDER Adventure Zone on Tuesday afternoons, the resort’s popular Retro Skate Night is also scheduled those days from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.Access to the skating rink is complimentary, and skate rentals are available for $10.
