Northstar California™ Resort Hosts Annual Beerfest & Bluegrass Festival on July 14, 2012
Event to feature more than 25 local and regional breweries plus live music from the nation's top Bluegrass bands

TRUCKEE, Calif. – June 5, 2012 – With summer just around the corner, Northstar California Resort is gearing up for the Annual Beerfest & Bluegrass Festival.  One of North Lake Tahoe's favorite summer events, the Beerfest & Bluegrass Festival will feature music from the nation's top Bluegrass bands, over 25 of the finest local and regional breweries, special children's treats and activities on the skating rink.

This year’s Beerfest & Bluegrass Festival, will take place Saturday, July 14 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. with live performances by Sweetwater String Band, delivering traditional mountain music from the high Sierras and Grant Farm, a refreshing harvest of a band featuring Champion Tyler Grant, one of the hottest and best-known guitar players on the scene today. Beer enthusiasts can enjoy a beer garden filled with local and regional breweries including (Sierra Nevada Brewing Company, Great Basin Brewing Company and Lagunitas Brewing Company). To compliment the expansive brew selection, a tasty BBQ will also be available for purchase. All tickets include a commemorative pint glass to enjoy the day’s tastings.

Guests who want to prep their palate in advance of the Beerfest are invited to warm up with the Northstar Brewmaster Dinner on Friday, July 13. Northstar's own Chef Debbie Finn will team up with five local breweries and will prepare a 5-course interactive meal. The pairing will be comprised of fresh, seasonal ingredients to excite and delight the taste buds, partnered with a variety of beers to entice the flavors.  Seating is limited for this exclusive event taking place on the skating rink in the Village at Northstar from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tickets are on sale now for $55 at www.NorthstarCalifornia.com. Tickets will also be available the evening of the event for $65.

For those who want to make a weekend of it and are interested in a guided tour of the starry skies above, Tahoe Star Tours – Saturn Seeks Virgo takes place at Northstar on Friday, July 13 and Saturday, July 14. On select dates throughout the summer, Tony Berendsen, president of the Nevada Science Coalition, offers a unique and educational experience featuring a laser tour of the night sky, poetry reading, fun space quiz with prizes, and telescopic viewing.  Toy Inventor David Small will be making a special appearance on Saturday, July 14.  Advance purchase tickets are available online for $30 for ages 13+, and $15 for children ages 12 and under.
