Jim Larmore Named New Director of Mountain Operations at Northstar California™ Resort

TRUCKEE, Calif. – June 4, 2012 – Northstar today announced the appointment of Jim Larmore as its new Director of Mountain Operations. Larmore will assume responsibility for the management of all on-mountain operations for the resort, and will report directly to Bill Rock, vice president and chief operating officer at Northstar. Larmore will begin his new position on June 7, 2012.

“Jim brings more than 30 years of mountain operations and leadership experience to Northstar, having worked the past 25 years at Heavenly. Among the Heavenly and larger Vail Resorts teams, Jim is widely regarded as a great leader and team member, and brings a high level of technical experience and a strong focus on guest service to Northstar. He has the ability to help take us to the next level with regard to mountain operations, and I look forward to him joining our team,” said Bill Rock, Northstar’s chief operating officer.

In his most recent role, Larmore served as the Snow Surfaces Director at Heavenly Mountain Resort, where he was responsible for snowmaking, grooming and terrain park operations, along with many special projects. During his tenure, Larmore worked with agencies and consultants to develop cutting edge environmental practices, and participated in the development of company-wide best practices as they related to snowmaking, grooming and terrain parks.

As Northstar’s Director of Mountain Operations, Larmore will oversee Ski Patrol, Snowmaking, Grooming, Terrain Parks, Mountain Safety, Lift Operations, Lift Maintenance and the upper Vehicle Maintenance shop.

Larmore studied at Mt. San Antonio College before working as a commercial pilot and serving as an air tanker fire fighter for the Department of Land Management in the early 1980’s. He began his career in the ski industry with Snow Summit Ski Corporation before joining the Heavenly team in 1987. An avid skier, Larmore and his family reside in Carson City, Nevada.

Larmore’s appointment comes on the same day that Heavenly’s Director of Lift Operations, James Grant, was promoted to the position of Director of Mountain Operations at Heavenly.
