As Much as Six Feet of New Snow Delivered in the Last Week to Top Ski Resorts Across the Western United States

The New Year has resolved to deliver massive amounts of snow across ski resorts in the western United States, with as much as six feet falling in the last week. A heavy band of snow is expected to continue falling today across the mountains throughout the day, including Colorado’s Vail Mountain, Beaver Creek Resort, Breckenridge and Keystone; Utah’s Park City Mountain; and the Lake Tahoe Region’s Heavenly Mountain Resort, Northstar California and Kirkwood Mountain Resort.

Keystone and Breckenridge Ski Resorts Announces Plans for Capital Improvements for the 2017-2018 Winter Season

Keystone and Breckenridge Ski Resorts announced today plans for capital improvements, including upgrades to both the Montezuma Express Lift at Keystone and the Falcon SuperChair at Breckenridge to six-passenger chairlifts, and plans to renovate and expand Keystone’s Labonte’s Smokehouse BBQ restaurant. These plans are all subject to U.S. Forest Service approval.

Keystone Resort Opens All Three Peaks for Skiing and Riding on Saturday

With 8 inches of new snow in the last 24 hours, and 3 feet in the last week, Keystone Resort will open North Peak on Saturday, Dec. 17. With the addition of North Peak, guests will have access to skiing and riding on all three peaks at Keystone – Dercum Mountain, North Peak and The Outback, and more than 1,000 acres of skiable terrain.

Keystone Resort to Open Expert Terrain in the Outback on Thursday

After nearly three feet of snow in the last week, Keystone Resort will open the Outback on Thursday, offering expert natural terrain for skiers and riders. Guests will access The Outback terrain via the Outpost Gondola and the Anticipation trail to the Outback Express Lift; to return to Dercum Mountain guests will ride the Wayback Lift to the Outpost Gondola. There will be no groomed runs in The Outback and terrain is for experts only.

Keystone Resort Receives 9 Inches of New Snow; Additional Terrain to Open this Weekend

Heavy snow fell overnight at Keystone Resort and skiers and riders woke up to 9 inches of fresh snow this morning, totaling nearly two feet in the last week. Another wave of heavy snowfall is expected to return Saturday night into Sunday, with the possibility of continued snow fall each day next week into the following weekend.

Keystone Resort to Expand Terrain Offerings for Saturday, Dec. 2

Beginning Saturday, Dec. 3, Keystone Resort will expand terrain offerings, including the addition of the intermediate Spring Dipper trail and the Discovery Learning Area at the Mountain House Base Area. Additional terrain openings will include the lower portion of Paymaster, the upper portion of Silver Spoon, Silvermaster, Jaybird, Ina’s Way and The Edge.
