Vail Resorts Announces New, State-of-the-Art Radio Frequency Technology for all 2008-2009 Season Passes Allowing for an "Easy Scan" Process for Skiers

BROOMFIELD, Colo. – April 10, 2008 – Your 2008-2009 Vail Resorts season pass is getting a high-tech makeover. Today Vail Resorts, Inc., (NYSE:MTN) announced that all of the Company’s season passes for next season – The Epic, Colorado, Summit and Heavenly season passes – will utilize a new state-of-the-art radio frequency technology that’ll offer an “easy scan” process giving skiers and snowboarders the option to keep their pass zipped inside their jacket in the lift lines at Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge and Keystone in Colorado and Heavenly in Lake Tahoe, Calif./Nev.

“Instead of fumbling to find your season pass in your coat to present at the lift lines next season, our scanners will be able to detect your pass through your jacket which will provide our guests with an easier and more convenient experience,” said Rob Katz, chief executive officer for Vail Resorts. “At Vail Resorts our mission is Extraordinary Resorts, Exceptional Experiences. The enhanced season pass functionality is an example of this.” To implement the new technology, all new and renewing pass holders will be mailed their season pass before the start of the 2008-2009 season.

Spring pricing, which is the lowest guaranteed pricing of the year, is currently in effect for Vail Resorts’ popular Colorado season passes: $399 for The Summit Pass™ that gives Colorado skiers unlimited, unrestricted access to Breckenridge, Keystone and Arapahoe Basin next season and $439 for The Colorado Pass™ that offers unlimited, unrestricted skiing at Breckenridge, Keystone and Arapahoe Basin with an additional 10 days* at Vail and Beaver Creek for the 2008-2009 season.

Vail Resorts’ new, revolutionary season pass product, The Epic Season Pass™, features unlimited, unrestricted skiing with access to more than 18,000 acres of skiing at Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Keystone, Heavenly and Arapahoe Basin for the entire 2008-2009 season, all for $579.

Added spring benefits for pass holders

Similar to last year, Vail Resorts is offering added spring benefits for purchasers of The Colorado Pass™. And, new this year, they’re extending these benefits to purchasers of The Summit Pass™ and The Epic Season Pass™. To qualify for these benefits, guests must purchase their Colorado or Summit passes at one of our numerous outlets in Colorado or renew online by May 4 to receive these special spring benefits (guests interested in the Epic Season Pass can purchase online through May 4 for these added benefits):

  • Lowest guaranteed price, which is less than last November’s pricing for the Colorado and Summit passes
  • $49 initial payment with the remainder charged in September 2008
  • The option to purchase four unrestricted $50 lift tickets valid all season at Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Keystone and Heavenly. These tickets can be shared with family and friends, or used by the pass holder for additional days at Vail and Beaver Creek.
  • Unlimited skiing and riding at Vail and Beaver Creek during the month of April, 2009 (for Colorado Pass holders only)
  • One-year subscription to SKI Magazine

Spring pricing for Vail Resorts 2008-2008 season passes

The Colorado Pass™
The Colorado Pass™ offers unlimited access at Breckenridge, Keystone and Arapahoe Basin with no restrictions, plus 10 days at Vail and Beaver Creek with restricted dates.* The Colorado Pass™ is offered at $439 for adults, $329 for teens, ages 13-18 and $209 for children, ages 5-12.

The Summit Pass™ (formerly the Buddy Pass)
The Summit Pass™ provides unlimited lift access at the top Summit County resorts - Breckenridge, Keystone and Arapahoe Basin - with no date restrictions at $399 for adults, $309 for teens and $199 for children.

The Epic Season Pass™

The Epic Season Pass™ makes an “epic season a reality”. at $579 for unlimited, unrestricted skiing and snowboarding at Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Keystone and Arapahoe Basin in Colorado and Heavenly in Lake Tahoe,. The Epic Season Pass is $279 for children (5-12).

To further sweeten the pot, all Colorado-based Summit, Colorado and Epic pass holders for the 2008-2009 season will be included as a member of the Colorado Pass Club™ (CPC) and will receive exclusive member-only discounts, free offers and more. In the past, membership into this club was only for Colorado Pass holders. Additionally, all guests who purchase a Colorado, Summit or Epic pass will receive the following benefits:

  • Half-price lift tickets at Heavenly Mountain Resort, the highest-rated resort at Lake Tahoe.
  • Six Ski With A Friend tickets, available at a discounted daily rate. Discounts vary throughout the season.
  • Free Summer 2009 lift access at Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge and Keystone.

Vail Resorts season passes can be secured at the spring prices for $49 down with the balance of the payment deferred until September 2008.  All pass prices are subject to change.

Pass renewals are available online (www.coloradopass.com) and new passes will go on sale Friday, April 11 through Sunday, May 4 at select Front Range locations including Boulder Ski Deals (Boulder), Colorado Ski and Golf (Aurora, Arvada, Colorado Springs and Littleton) and REI (Denver Flagship and Fort Collins), Fridays through Sundays during store hours.

* The Colorado Pass is restricted from use at Vail and Beaver Creek: Nov. 28-29, 2008; Dec. 27-31, 2008; Jan. 1-2, 2009 and Feb. 14-15, 2009.
