Breckenridge Opens High Alpine Terrain and Schedules Peak 7 and Independence SuperChair to Open Friday, Dec. 16
  • A foot of fresh snow has fallen on Breckenridge since Wednesday morning; three feet of snow fell in the last week
  • Resort moves to 8:30 a.m. opening on Friday, Dec. 16 with more than 1,200 acres of skiable terrain
  • All five peaks expected to be open for skiing and riding for the holidays

BRECKENRIDGE, Colo. — Dec. 15, 2016 – Just in time for the weekend, Breckenridge Ski Resort opened T-Bar lift today, a popular high alpine terrain lift on the mountain and 6 Chair plus Peak 7 and the Independence SuperChair are scheduled to open for the season Friday, Dec. 16, all following a foot of fresh snow that fell since Wednesday. With the additional lifts and surrounding terrain, the resort will offer more than 1,200 acres of skiable terrain for guests to enjoy. “Thanks to Mother Nature, Breck is now at 99 percent of average snowfall to date this season and more than 173 percent of average for the month,” said Gary Shimanowitz, vice president of mountain operations at Breckenridge Ski Resort. “We’re expecting to have all five peaks open for skiing and riding for the holidays, including Peak 10, which is slated to open on Friday, Dec. 23. We’re especially excited to get T-Bar and 6 Chair open; our Mountain Operations Teams have done an impressive job working on this advanced terrain.”
 
Breck will move to its winter morning operating schedule beginning Friday, Dec. 16 with the majority of lifts opening at 8:30 a.m. Lift operating hours are posted at the base of all open lifts and are subject to change with conditions.
 
Breckenridge Ski Resort will also open the brand-new, 490-seat restaurant, Pioneer Crossing, just steps from Independence SuperChair on Peak 7, on Saturday, Dec. 24. The new restaurant will highlight the mining history of Breckenridge’s past and offer a variety of house made options like salads to order and a Mediterranean station, all coupled with dramatic views of the surrounding area. Skiers and snowboarders can enjoy ‘upscale campfire food’ including items like Pioneer Lamb Pie served in a skillet.  
 
Skier Services Updates
All Breckenridge Ski & Snowboard School locations are open for all ages and ability levels, including Beaver Run, Peak 9 Village and Peak 8. Additionally, all food and beverage outlets at Breckenridge Ski Resort are now open for the season including:
  • TBar restaurant and Ski Hill Grill at the base of Peak 8;
  • Vista Haus on Peak 8;
  • Sevens restaurant at the base of Peak 7;
  • Overlook Restaurant at the top of Peak 9;
  • The Maggie at the base of Peak 9; and
  • TenMile Station on Peak 9
Breckenridge Ski Resort requires all skiers and riders to observe all posted signs and warnings. Closed trails may contain hazards due to limited natural snow coverage and snowmaking operations. Please keep off closed trails and out of closed areas for safety reasons.
 
First Tracks Fridays Begins Friday, Dec. 16

Skiers and snowboarders looking for the best prices on lift tickets can use their smartphone or computer to purchase tickets online in advance at www.snow.com/lifttickets. By purchasing lift tickets seven or more days in advance online, guests will receive the biggest savings – up to 25 percent – and the lowest price, guaranteed. Advance purchase tickets can be sent directly to a guest’s mailbox, allowing them to bypass the ticket window. Or guests can easily pick up their tickets at the resorts’ Epic Day Express windows. Once a guest has a hard card ticket, they can even load more days onto the card by purchasing additional days online.
