NEW Epic Discovery at Breckenridge: A Mountain of Summer Fun is Ahead!
Late last summer, Breckenridge Ski Resort embarked on a new adventure with the debut of Epic Discovery, launching a new era of summer outdoor activities designed to immerse guests in Breck’s High Alpine environment. Vail Resorts’ Epic Discovery, now offered at Breckenridge and Vail in Colorado, and Heavenly Resort in California, immerses guests in activities which provide big-time thrills, allowing them to challenge themselves physically, explore and better understand their natural surroundings, and ultimately create lifelong memories. This first-of-its-kind comprehensive on-mountain summer adventure features components such as zip lines, rock climbing walls, alpine coasters, wildlife trail exploration, and interactive, “learn-through-play” activities. Vail Resorts will utilize its “1% For The Forest” program as a means to contribute one percent of all summer lift ticket and activity revenue to The Nature Conservancy for forest restoration projects on national forest lands.

NEW Mountaintop Adventures at Epic Discovery’s Alpine Camp
Alpine Camp, located just steps from the top of the Colorado SuperChair, is the heart of Epic Discovery’s new activities and adventures at Breck, featuring the Alpineer Challenge Course, Expedition Zip Line Tour, Gold Summit Climbing Wall, Interpretive Hiking Loop and Observation Tower.

Expedition Zip Line Tour: This half-day tour explores the Peak 7 Ore Bucket area of Breckenridge Ski Resort by air; navigating over a mile on eight zip lines between 10 towers and a 200-foot-long aerial bridge walk with stunning views of Summit County.

Alpineer Challenge Course: Test out your agility on one of 15 different challenges from lightly swinging logs, to shoe-to-rope balancing maneuvers; part of a truly unique adventure, built to blend in with its natural surroundings. The challenge course is the newest activity at Alpine Camp, opened in late Summer 2017.

  • Gold Summit Climbing Wall: The 40-foot tall climbing wall offers 16 distinct routes to challenge all ability levels, from beginner to advanced climbers.
  • Interpretive Hiking Loop: Just under a mile, this gentle hiking loop takes guests on a journey of interactive learning about Breck’s High Alpine environment, including animals, flora and fauna, mountain wetlands, impacts of the gold rush and additional history of the area. Along the loop guests will find photos, “learn-through-play” experiences (eg. jump like a fox), fun facts and interesting written descriptions to encourage a connection to the environment in a unique way.
  • Observation Tower: Enjoy breathtaking 360-degree views of Breckenridge, the Continental Divide and the greater Rocky Mountains.

NEW Dining at Altitude
New for summer 2018, enjoy lunch at 11,000 feet with stunning views of the surrounding Rocky Mountains on the Vista Haus deck. Serving up classic barbeque dishes, the mountaintop deck is the perfect spot to re-fuel in between Epic Discovery activities, or simply enjoy the pairing of a scenic lift ride and an outdoor lunch for $29.

Epic Discovery’s Peak 8 Basecamp
Offering activities for the whole family, with a focus on the little ones, Peak 8 Basecamp is the first stop to make on your Epic Discovery journey. Located off the top of the free BreckConnect Gondola and at the base of the Colorado SuperChair, Peak 8 Basecamp offers plenty of summer fun for the young and young at heart, including activities like the Gold Runner Coaster, Alpine Slides, the Lil’ Climber Ropes Course, miniature golf, and more.
