11th Annual Beaver Creek Wine & Spirits Festival Returns Aug. 10-13

Beaver Creek, Colo., July 18, 2017 — The much anticipated wine, spirit and culinary event of the summer, the 11th Annual Beaver Creek Wine & Spirits Festival presented by Wine Spectator, returns Aug. 10-13, nestled in the raw beauty of the Rocky Mountains of Beaver Creek, Colorado. This event incorporates culinary excellence with Beaver Creek’s longstanding traditions, outdoor adventures, health and wellness.

Each event has a specialized theme and a location that pairs perfectly. The weekend starts off on Thursday evening with a special kick-off event, Whiskey Wranglers at the Beaver Creek Rodeo – a whiskey tasting with a touch of the wild, wild, west. Friday’s festivities begin with Mountaintop Fitness Classes and Breakfast at Spruce Saddle. An invigorating outdoor spin, yoga, and pilates session is followed by gourmet continental breakfast. The Friday Afternoon Club Social offers a casual alpine summer setting with live music and wine tasting at the Plaza Pavilion in Beaver Creek Village. Cap off the evening with Paired with Patron: A Cigar Tasting Event at the Smoking Lounge at the Ritz-Carlton Bachelor Gulch. Join Chef Joly of Mirabelle Restaurant for a new Farm-to-Table Dinner, with ingredients sourced from within 150 miles.
 
Embark on the Hike & Lunch: Guided Gourmet Experience on Saturday for a memorable hike on Beaver Creek Mountain through aspen groves and meadows of wildflowers all above Beaver Creek Village guided by experts from Beaver Creek’s Hiking Center and culminating with an outdoor, wine-paired lunch at the lush Creekside Park.
 
The weekend’s star event, Saturday’s 11th Annual Grand Tasting, is a celebration of the weekend’s highlighted dishes and drinks with mouth-watering samples, music and drink. Whiskey Wranglers @ the Beaver Creek Rodeo 5 p.m. - 8 p.m.
Put on your boots and kick off the Wine & Spirits weekend at the Beaver Creek Rodeo while sampling a variety of fine whiskeys from Stranahan’s Colorado Whiskey.  Savor the flavor of the whiskey on your palate while getting a taste of this wild west tradition.
Location: Beaver Creek Rodeo, VIP Tasting Area. The Beaver Creek Rodeo Grounds are located in Avon just east of the Chapel Square and City Market shopping centers. Rising high above Beaver Creek Village at the top of the Centennial Express chairlift, Spruce Saddle Lodge is an iconic venue for breathtaking scenery and mountain adventure. Built in 1982, it is one of the original resort structures, and at 10,200 feet offers unrivaled views of the Gore Range and Eagle River Valley. It is here that you’ll participate in an outdoor fitness class from Allegria Spa like never before. Includes a gourmet continental breakfast at Spruce Saddle and a complimentary gondola pass that will be valid all day.
8:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m.: Spin: This spin class will work on a bell curve to elevate your heart rate and sustain average power. Condition your heart, lungs, legs and core without impact or stress to your joints.
9:15 a.m. - 10:15 a.m.: Yoga Flow: A flowing practice that links Hatha yoga postures together with dynamic movements and conscious breathing. Includes sun salutations, standing poses and optional inversions.
10:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.: Pilates Mat: This class uses the classical Pilates callisthenic exercises to strengthen deep core musculature. Learn the fundamentals of movement that will create postural awareness all day long!

Five Bordeaux Varietals and Your Five Senses 2:30 p.m. - 4 p.m.
Take your wine knowledge from enthusiast to expert with this exciting group exploration of the five classic red Bordeaux varietals. Taste Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot in a guided group tasting designed to engage each of your senses to heighten your tasting experience. Once you learn how to harness all five senses to aid in identifying the delicate differences in each varietal, we'll treat you to chef created bites that will enhance the unique characteristics of each wine.

Come explore the Smoking Lounge at the Ritz Carlton in Bachelor Gulch for an avant garde cigar and tequila tasting. Whether you're a cigar smoking novice or a seasoned cigar lover, enjoy a selection of delicious cigars while learning to how to cut, light, and identify specific tobacco flavors to help pair your cigar with the perfect tequila or spirit. Ticket price includes the purchase of cigars and complimentary spirit tastings.

Join us for a journey of the senses through the summer mountain trails to the tables filled with locally sourced foods from Chef Riley Romanin of Revolution. Guests will enjoy a beautiful hike with the friendly and knowledgeable guides of the Beaver Creek Hiking Center, ultimately winding their way to the lush Creekside Park for an outdoor, wine-paired lunch.

Pinot Noir with a Distinct Sense of Place 12 p.m. - 1:30 p.m.
Visionary Winemaker Jayson Woodbridge always had a desire to make Pinot Noir. In 2006, he contacted the owners of historic Stanly Ranch, in the Carneros appellation of Napa to craft his first Pinot Noir. Woodbridge's first vintage of Cherry Pie Stanly Ranch garnered critical acclaim and was noted as “a wine not to be ignored,” by Robert Parker. The success of the first bottling lead to two additional single vineyard Pinot Noirs – Huckleberry Snodgrass from the Russian River Valley and Rodger’s Creek from the Sonoma Coast. Join us as we explore the nuances of Pinot Noir from one of the most acclaimed winemaker in Napa Valley.
