Beaver Creek Seeks Cookie Recipes for the 8th Annual Chocolate Chip Cookie Competition
Beaver Creek, Colo. Sept. 20, 2011 – Fall has arrived in Beaver Creek and with opening day of the winter season just around the corner, cookie lovers know it’s time to start baking and perfecting that award-winning chocolate chip cookie recipe for the eighth annual Beaver Creek Chocolate Chip Cookie Competition. Cookie Competition submissions will be accepted from Oct. 17-21, 2011 and the top five finalists will be selected to compete for bragging rights as the Official Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe of Beaver Creek in the Cookie Competition which takes place promptly at 2 p.m. on Beaver Creek’s opening day, Wednesday, Nov. 23.  

Anyone is eligible to bake and submit 12 cookie samples with an original chocolate chip cookie recipe. Cookies must be no more than four inches in diameter and will be judged using the following criteria: Taste (50%); Appearance (20%); Texture (10%); and Reproducible Recipe (20%). Cookie Competition entrants will be pre-judged and five finalists will be selected to compete during the opening day competition on Nov. 23 where 5,000 warm chocolate chip cookies will be served to skiers and snowboarders.  Finalists must be able to attend the competition.
 
Resort guests and locals alike can vote for their favorite homemade chocolate chip cookie during the eighth annual competition finals on Nov. 23.  The winning cookie will become the Official Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe of Beaver Creek and the winner also will receive $1,000; second will be awarded $500; and third place receives $250. Fourth and fifth place winners will receive two tickets to any performance at the Vilar Performing Arts Center, based on availability.
All cookie entries must be received by mail or dropped in-person between Oct. 17-21.Cookies may be shipped overnight via UPS or FedEx or delivered in person to the Beaver Creek Resort Company office from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Entry forms, competition rules and detailed delivery instructions are available online at www.beavercreek.com. Beaver Creek serves warm chocolate chip cookies to guests daily at 3 p.m. for the resort’s signature program, Cookie Time. Approximately 400,000 cookies are baked and served annually by Cookie Time Chefs.
