Beaver Creek Resort Installs New Towers for Rose Bowl Lift Replacement
BEAVER CREEK, Colo. Aug. 25, 2011 –This morning at Beaver Creek Resort a K-Max helicopter flew new chairlift towers for the Rose Bowl Lift that is being upgraded to a high speed quad. New steel towers were installed today and the helicopter will return tomorrow to place the remaining towers. Construction of the new lift is making steady progress and is on track to debut in time for Christmas.

The helicopter moves new lift towers from a staging area mid mountain to Rose Bowl where crews on the ground skillfully bolt the towers into place. The helicopter transports the towers at dawn, taking advantage of colder morning air which assists with carrying more weight.

The new Rose Bowl Lift, a high speed Doppelmayr detachable quad, will transport 2,400 people per hour and the new ride time will be nearly cut in half at five-and-a-half minutes. The planned side-load chair will transport people to the top of today’s existing Rose Bowl Lift. The lift upgrade also will improve the guest experience by spreading skiers and snowboarders across the main mountain more, and reducing density impacts on the Cinch Express Lift (Chair 8) and Centennial Express Lift (Chair 6). The resort also plans to increase its grooming operations offering more variety in Rose Bowl including on some of its black diamond runs, allowing skiers and riders a wide variety of terrain options accessed from the new lift.
