Beaver Creek Hiking Center's Colorado Fourteener Adventure Plus Getaway Returns With a New Lineup For 2009
  • Colorado 14er Adventure Plus high peaks and whitewater package includes rafting on the Arkansas River, an overnight stay at Mt. Princeton Hot Springs Lodge, and a guided 14er bid

BEAVER CREEK, Colo. – March 2009 – The Beaver Creek Hiking Center, based in Beaver Creek, Colo., is known for creating exceptional excursions designed to allow a variety of outdoor enthusiasts – with a range of ability levels – to experience the Colorado backcountry. The Hiking Center is offering its popular Colorado 14er Adventure Plus getaway again this summer, featuring a guided trek to the top of one of the state’s 54 famed 14,000-foot peaks, plus an exhilarating whitewater rafting trip and historic accommodations near the Collegiate Peaks.

The Colorado 14er Adventure Plus package includes a few key elements that have become synonymous with a summer visit to Colorado: the opportunity to navigate the Arkansas River’s legendary whitewater; soaking in one of many natural hot springs; and bagging a 14er – one of the state’s highest peaks.

“This package incorporates three of the adventures that many people long to experience in Colorado during the summertime,” said Nate Goldberg, director of the Beaver Creek Hiking Center. “With our close proximity to the Collegiate Peaks and the Arkansas River Valley, we’re able to cater to those seeking true Colorado adventure by packaging popular summer outdoor activities in one short trip.”

Participants depart Beaver Creek Resort for a wild ride on the Arkansas River – Class III or IV rapids – with one of the region’s top rafting outfitters, followed by a soak at the historic Mt. Princeton Hot Springs, dinner at the Princeton Club and a night’s rest at the Mt. Princeton Hot Springs Lodge. The following day, the group will summit one of four fourteeners among the Collegiate Peaks followed by a return to Beaver Creek.

There are currently four trips scheduled for the summer: June 30, July 14, July 28 and August 18; all trips depart on Tuesday morning and return on Wednesday evening and the chosen fourteeners will include peaks in the Collegiate Range.

The Colorado 14er Adventure Plus package includes: guided hike; guided raft trip; transportation to and from the Beaver Creek Hiking Center; one night’s lodging at the Mt. Princeton Hot Springs Lodge, hot springs access, three meals, water, Gatorade, granola bars, use of Salomon hiking boots and packs, LEKI trekking poles and all-weather gear as needed.

Private trips can be arranged; the trip requires a four person minimum booking. Interested participants can contact the hiking center for current pricing.

The Beaver Creek Hiking Center offers professional hiking within an 80-mile radius from East Vail to Salida, including both Vail and Beaver Creek Mountains, and a variety of rental hiking equipment for use by resort guests. Hiking Center guides promote adventure and education while allowing guests to take in the beautiful surroundings – no matter the hike. Several scheduled hikes are available each day, and private hikes can be arranged with a 24-hour reservation (based upon availability).
