New General Managers Take the Helm at One Ski Hill Place, A RockResort, and the Village at Breckenridge
Breckenridge, Colo. – Feb. 6, 2017 – Douglas “Chip” Nelson and Shannon Best have taken the helm as general managers of One Ski Hill Place, A RockResort, and the Village at Breckenridge respectively. In their new roles, they will oversee all facets of operations and management of the two lodging properties, helping to deliver an experience of a lifetime for guests and owners.

Including general manager positions, Nelson brings a skillset that spans a variety of operations from rooms and property management to spa, food and beverage, events, and conference services. Nelson has served as general manager of the Village at Breckenridge since December 2015 and prior to that he served as general manager of Scrub Island Resort in the British Virgin Islands. He also held the general manager position at Christophe Harbour Management Company in St. Kitts, West Indies. Earlier in his career, Nelson spent 12 years with Vail Resorts in a variety of positions including director of food and beverage at the Vail Marriott Mountain Resort & Spa; director of operations at The Arrabelle at Vail Square, A RockResort; director of food and beverage for Keystone Resort Hospitality; and director of operations for RockResorts’ former regional office in Miami, Fla. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in hospitality business from Michigan State University.

“We’ve been pleased to have Chip back with Vail Resorts this past year and are delighted to have him now leading One Ski Hill Place, Breckenridge’s premier lodging property,” said Tim Estes, vice president of Keystone and Breckenridge hospitality for Vail Resorts. “Chip’s breadth and depth of experience will undoubtedly benefit guests and owners alike.”

Filling Nelson’s role at the Village at Breckenridge is Shannon Best, who most recently held the position of director of operations at The Lodge at Vail, A RockResort, and Austria Haus in Vail, Colo. since June 2013 where she managed guest service, food and beverage, front office, loss prevention and housekeeping operations for the two properties. Prior to that she held front office management positions with the Vail Marriott Mountain Resort & Spa in Vail, Colo., overseeing front office operations, guest satisfaction, hiring, training and development.

“Shannon has been a star team member for our lodging operations in Eagle County and I’m looking forward to the fresh perspective she’ll bring to the Village at Breckenridge,” added Estes. “I have complete confidence that Shannon will continue to build on the terrific successes Chip and his team have accomplished over the last couple years at the property.”
