What’s New at Breckenridge
Already home to four huge peaks and 2,350 acres, the resort has debuted the new Peak 7 base area last season and reconstruction of the Peak 8 base area is on track with its first new building on Peak 8, Rock Resort’s One Ski Hill Place, opening in late spring 2010. Also, 2009 marks 25 years of snowboarding at Breckenridge Ski Resort, one of the first to embrace snowboarding and to host one of the initial major snowboard competitions in the industry, The World Snowboarding Championships, or “The World’s,” in 1986.  Breckenridge continues its support of the snowboarding community and industry by hosting major events such as the Winter Dew Tour, December 18-20, 2009 and fostering the careers of up-and-comers through the Breckenridge FreeRide Team. With four terrain parks and three pipes, including the top-ranked Freeway Terrain Park/Pipe, a park progression system for beginners and intermediates, Breckenridge remains on the forefront of the industry in both facilities and talent. In fact, three Breckenridge Team Riders have enough points to compete for a spot on the U.S. Olympic Team this year. Steve Fisher, JJ Thomas and Zack Black are all eligible to compete for a spot to Vancouver.
