Emma, the World’s First Digital Mountain Assistant, Kicks Off the 2018-19 Winter Season in Beta at Keystone Ski Resort

Vail Resorts announced today that Emma, the world’s first digital mountain assistant, has begun her inaugural winter season, launching in beta at Keystone Ski Resort in Colorado, which opened ahead of schedule this week. Emma is using the early season to better understand how guests ask questions while at the resort and will launch at eight additional ski resorts later this season: Vail, Beaver Creek and Breckenridge in Colorado; Park City in Utah; Heavenly, Northstar and Kirkwood in Tahoe; and Whistler Blackcomb in Canada.

Last Chance to Purchase the 2018-19 Epic Pass is Sunday, Nov. 18

The deadline to purchase the 2018-19 Epic Pass and the entire lineup of Epic Season Pass options – including the Epic Local, Epic 7-Day, Epic 4-Day, and Epic Military Pass – is Sunday, Nov. 18. The Epic Pass continues to provide the greatest value in skiing and snowboarding, offering access to 65 of the world’s best mountain resorts throughout the United States, Canada, Australia, Japan, France, Switzerland, Italy, and Austria. In addition to unlimited, unrestricted access to Vail, Breckenridge, Whistler Blackcomb and Park City, the Epic Pass has added 20 new destinations for the 2018-19 season and will now feature unlimited, unrestricted access to Crested Butte and seven days in Telluride in Colorado, limited access to Resorts of the Canadian Rockies’ six resorts in Canada, including Fernie and Kicking Horse, and Hakuba Valley’s nine resorts in Japan.

Breckenridge and Keystone will Open Early for the 2018-19 Winter Season

Ideal early season conditions, including natural snow and consistent snowmaking operations, has set the stage for early opening days at both Breckenridge Ski Resort and Keystone Resort. Up to five feet of snow has fallen across Breck and Keystone since mid-October, with up to four feet of snow in the past week alone.

Vail Resorts Names Timothy April Chief Information Officer

Vail Resorts, Inc. today announced that Timothy April, currently Vice President of Information Technology and Guest Experience, has been promoted to Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer, effective Oct. 29, 2018. April will join the Vail Resorts Executive Committee and oversee all facets of technology for the Company, including innovative enhancements to the guest experience and best-in-class systems throughout the Company’s operations. April replaces Robert Urwiler, who is retiring after 12 years with Vail Resorts.

Vail Resorts Closes Its Acquisition of Stevens Pass Resort in Washington

Vail Resorts today announced that the Company has closed on its acquisition of Stevens Pass Resort in Washington from Ski Resort Holdings, LLC, an affiliate of Oz Real Estate. The final purchase price, after adjustments for certain agreed-upon terms, was $64 million. Less than 85 miles from Seattle and renowned for its plentiful snowfall, the resort sits on the crest of the Cascade Range within two national forests – the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest on the west side, and the Wenatchee National Forest on the east.

Vail Resorts CEO to Donate $31 Million from SAR Exercise

Today, Vail Resorts, Inc. (NYSE: MTN) announced that Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Rob Katz has exercised stock appreciation rights (SARs) that were expiring over the next two years and will be donating 100 percent of the shares and proceeds received to his family charitable foundation and donor advised charitable fund. Based on the market price on the date of exercise of $275.25 per share, the donation is equal to approximately $31 million.
