Vail Resorts Congratulates Lindsey Vonn on Becoming the Second Most Winningest Female Ski Racer in World Cup Ski History

04 December 2012
Vonn is the First Skier Ever (of Either Gender) to Win Three World Cup Races at the Same Venue in Two Different Seasons
VAIL, Colo. – Dec. 4, 2012 – Vail Resorts and the entire Vail community offer their heartfelt congratulations to hometown hero, Olympic champion and the greatest American World Cup alpine ski racer of all time, Lindsey Vonn, on becoming the second winningest skier in women’s World Cup history with 56 wins after this weekend in Lake Louise.

It’s just the beginning of the race season and Lindsey Vonn is already tearing up the record books with a hat trick at Lake Louise this weekend, winning two Downhills and a Super-G race. At 56 World Cup wins, Vonn now stands alone in second place behind Austria’s Annamarie Moser-Proell who has 62. It’s the most World Cup wins by any American and the first skier ever of either gender to win three World Cup races at the same venue in two different seasons. Vonn also set a new women’s record this weekend with seven straight World Cup wins at one venue.
“Lindsey’s record-breaking performance this past weekend truly exemplifies what an extraordinary champion she is as very few athletes have ever so decisively dominated their sport as she has,” said Rob Katz, chairman and chief executive officer of Vail Resorts. “We’re incredibly proud to support Lindsey and wish her our deepest congratulations for breaking more records this past weekend. We’ll be cheering for her throughout the rest of this season.”
Vail Mountain has supported Vonn throughout her career as her hometown mountain and Vonn now represents all seven of Vail Resorts’ world-class mountain resorts–Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Keystone, Heavenly, Northstar and Kirkwood.
