World’s Largest Travel Blogger Convention Set for Denver and Keystone
KEYSTONE, Colo., June 13, 2012 – Keystone Resort, in partnership with VISIT DENVER, the Convention & Visitors Bureau, will host the TBEX North America conference on June 14-17, 2012, the largest convention of travel writers, travel bloggers, travel photographers, influencers and content creators that has ever been staged.  A record-breaking 650 travel communicators are registered to attend.  The convention is expected to ignite a roar of travel stories across the blogosphere about all the things there are to see and do in Colorado.

“Keystone is thrilled to welcome the annual TBEX Conference to our resort. This is an opportunity to showcase the best that we have to offer; from the Rocky Mountain’s largest conference facility to outdoor recreation and first-class amenities, and of course, the stunning natural beauty of Keystone and the surrounding Summit County area,” said John Buhler, VP and General Manager of Keystone Resort.

“One of the great things about this event is the travel bloggers and writers are branching out and discovering story ideas all across the state, said Richard Scharf, ” President and CEO of VISIT DENVER, the Convention & Visitors Bureau.  “You can expect to see tweets, blogs, posts and articles about Keystone, Denver and Colorado appearing from one end of the globe to the other.”

The conference brings together writers and explorers whose diverse interest in travel fuel the most popular travel blogs in the world. The annual event attracts hundreds of new media travel writers, all of whom will be posting and writing stories and photos.  Among the speakers will be Chris Baker, Lowell Thomas Travel Writer of the Year 2008, and Spud Hilton, travel editor of the San Francisco Chronicle

"We chose Colorado for the TBEX travel writers' conference because of its breathtaking landscape, exploding culinary scene, plentiful outdoor adventure, fresh air and a revitalized downtown Denver. Social media influencers sharing real-time discoveries need fuel for the fire to inspire their readers, and the mountains of Colorado are a blazing inferno of awesome experiences," said founder of the TBEX events, Kim Mance.

Denver to Keystone Road Rally Highlights Pre-Convention Events
Pre-convention events for TBEX delegates in Denver will include the opportunity to tour the new Clyfford Still Museum, Yves Saint Laurent exhibit at the Denver Art Museum and History Colorado Center, as well as a reception at the Wynkoop Brewing Company.

On Friday, June 15, some 70 of the travel bloggers will participate in the Great Denver to Keystone Road Rally.  Ten teams will set off in Colorado Mountain Express (CME) vans to “race” from the Mile High City to the Continental Divide, participating in tasks to earn clues at Red Rocks Amphitheatre, Coors Brewery, the Denver Zoo, Phoenix Gold Mine and the Georgetown Loop Railroad, among other places.

The race is based on activities and creativity, not on time. Organized by VISIT DENVER and CME, it will showcase all the adventure, history – and beer – that can be found between Denver and Keystone.

Once at Keystone, TBEX delegates will have a wide choice of activities for fun between seminars, including two award-winning golf courses, nearly sixty miles of the best mountain biking terrain in the country, scenic hiking, horseback riding, fly-fishing, snow tubing, concerts and more.  An opening night reception will be staged at the spectacular Outpost venue, a mountaintop location at an elevation of 11,444 feet. TBEX delegates can wind down after a day of seminars with a treatment at the new environmentally friendly, luxury spa at the Keystone Lodge and enjoy dinner at any of the fine dining establishments which includes three, four diamond restaurants – one of which was once a stagecoach stop in the 1800’s. In addition to enjoying the many activities and amenities at Keystone, TBEX'ers will also have the opportunity to experience neighboring resorts in Summit & Eagle County, as well as the buzz of downtown Denver.
