Heavenly Surpasses 100,000 Facebook Fans
Resort Launches Next Heavenly Angel Search Via Social Media
Heavenly Mountain Resort, Calif./Nev. – January 10, 2012 – Heavenly Mountain Resort is realizing just how nice it is to be liked, especially by more than 100,000 people.
With more than 100,000 ‘likes’ on Facebook, Heavenly Mountain Resort now has the second-largest fan base among any ski resort in the world. Heavenly reached the 100,000-mark on December 30 at 9:58 a.m.
“With social media being such an integral part in communication these days, we are very excited and proud of this milestone,” said Pete Sonntag, Heavenly’s general manager. “We think this speaks a lot to how our guests feel when they visit Heavenly and the positive experiences they take away from their time on the mountain.”
Using Facebook, Heavenly has engaged fans through various contests, prize giveaways and photo, video, and blog postings. Heavenly has also taken advantage of Twitter, using @skiheavenly to update followers on current mountain conditions, lift statuses, and recent photos.
In December, Heavenly used Facebook to launch the next Heavenly Angel search, an online campaign that allows contestants to submit entries and photos virtually. The field will be narrowed down to 10 with the top four being determined by Facebook voters. The top four will win a trip to Heavenly Mountain Resort and a professional photoshoot.
The next Heavenly Angel will be determined by the most number of Facebook votes and will be featured in a 2012/13 Heavenly advertisement and as Freeskier Magazine’s Gear Girl in the 2012 Buyer’s Guide.
