Conditions Ideal for Spring Skiing and Riding
South Lake Tahoe, Calif./Nev. – April 1, 2012 – It’s no April Fool’s joke. Heavenly Mountain Resort has received between 12-18” of fresh snow since Saturday, improving Tahoe’s best snow surfaces and setting the resort up for weeks of great spring skiing conditions. During the month of March, Heavenly received 110” of snow.
“It may be April 1, but there’s still a lot of season left at Heavenly. This new snow sets us up perfectly for terrific spring skiing and riding well into April,” said Pete Sonntag, Heavenly’s general manager. “The extra days we will be open, plus this fresh powder, are only adding to the value for our passholders.”
Heavenly announced last week that the resort will extend its operation to include the weekends of April 20-22, 2012 and April 27-29, 2012, weather and conditions permitting. The Heavenly Gondola, Tamarack Express and Dipper Express, with a limited expert-only operation at Gunbarrel Express, will all be open during those days.
New 2012-13 pass holders already received one free day in April 2012 with the purchase of next season’s pass, and now their 2012-13 pass will grant them access to the entire extended portion of the season, as many as six days at Heavenly, weather and conditions permitting.
The 16th Annual Spring Loaded festival is underway, with concerts, the Gunbarrel 25 hosted by Glen Plake on April 7, Lake Tahoe Pond Skimming World Championship on April 14-15, and the Ski Patrol Fundraiser on April 14.
