AVON, Colo. — Feb. 6, 2012 — The Vail Valley’s local TV8 and Plum TV, Inc. announced the details of an affiliate agreement. Effective today, TV8 will have access to Plum TV’s library of programming, with distribution reaching approximately one million weekly viewers across its seven markets including Aspen, The Hamptons, Martha’s Vineyard, Miami Beach, Nantucket, Sun Valley and Telluride. Under the reciprocal agreement, TV8 will provide programming to the Plum TV network and TV8 and Plum TV will also collaborate on new content to air on TV8.
- Stations will share certain content and programming and reach viewers across Plum TV’s network
- Erik Williams, former Plum TV Vail host and producer, will join TV8 team
TV8 and Plum TV will also join forces in the digital world, creating improved web-based coverage to serve the Vail Valley and beyond. Currently TV8 has more than 110,000 monthly viewer minutes globally through TV8Vail.com. Plum's TV channels are distributed via owned and operated channels or through affiliate agreements with local broadcasters and or media companies.
“This is a tremendous opportunity for TV8 to better serve viewers in the Vail Valley and beyond with expanded national coverage from Plum TV airing locally and a more in-depth snapshot of the Vail Valley reaching Plum TV audiences in highly-attractive locations,” said Steve Wodlinger, general manager of TV8.
Erik Williams, former host and producer of Plum TV Vail, will join the TV8 on-air team in hosting and production and bring his local knowledge and broadcasting talents to the already solid and seasoned Avon-based team.
“TV8 was the perfect partner for Plum because of its success in the local market as a broadcaster and its connection to parent company, Vail Resorts, which has developed so many natural marketing integrations to date. Plum's content has been nominated for 44 Emmy's and our evergreen library has extensive stories produced in the Vail/Beaver Creek market. Our affiliate relationships are about partnerships to grow our businesses together,” said Tom Scott, founder and chairman of Plum TV.
Shared programming between TV8 and Plum TV will begin today locally on Comcast cable channel 8 and in Plum TV’s markets including Aspen, The Hamptons, Martha’s Vineyard, Miami Beach, Nantucket, Sun Valley and Telluride as well as online at www.TV8Vail.com and www.PlumTV.com. Plum TV’s local location on Comcast cable channel 16 will no longer be available.
TV8 and TV17 provide both local and destination guests with the highest quality programming and are available from East Vail to Edwards through Comcast and parts of Wolcott, Cordillera, Eagle and Eagle Ranch through CenturyLink.
